Spring 2009 (S09)

The Union has scheduled five debates for the Spring 2009 (S09) term. The set resolutions are below:

19 May 2009: "Israel should fend more for itself."

5 May 2009: "Resolved: Private markets should not be relied upon to provide healthcare                        for citizens."

21 April 2009: "Resolved: Child labor should be legal."

7 April 2009: "Resolved: Same-sex marriage should be legal."


Winter 2009 (W09)


The Union held two debates during the Winter 2009 (W09) term. The resolutions and results are below:

2 March 2008 : "Resolved: Privacy rights should change in times of war"

 Negated: Liberals & Libertarians negating; Socialists, Centrists and Conservatives affirming

14 February 2008: "Resolved: Wal-Mart is a force for evil."

Negated: Centrists, Libertarians and Conservatives negating; Socialists and Liberals affirming

 

 



2009 Inter-Party Competition


In the spirit of friendly, inter-party competition, the Union maintains records of each party's success rate in winning debates. The current standings for 2009 are as follows:

The DPU is a debating society at Dartmouth College, which brings together students of five different organizations as well as the unaffiliated students who may attend Union meetings and continue...

The May 5 resolution reads:

"The state should provide healthcare for its citizens."
